The Rongs

The Rongs is a 4 piece band conceived and masterminded by well-known seasoned musicians; drummer/singer Mark Blair,  pianist, composer big band leader Gary Farr and guitarist Perry Osborn. To round out the band, they called in bassist extraordinaire, Randy Barnhill. 

Their music consists of traditional to non-traditional jazz & blues with elements of Funk, Motown, Classic & Southern Rock and Soul covering Muddy Waters to John Scofield with original material splattered in.

Mark Blair - Drums / Vocals

Mark Blair, from Honolulu, Hawaii, has performed professionally for 28 years with local, national and international acts. Some of these include Bill Haley's Comets, The Drifters, Ben E. King, Kenny Neal, James Cotton, Jim Stafford, Freida Payne and Shot Jackson and Donna Darlene from "The Grand Ole Opry". 

Mark has an extensive background as a studio sideman working on many projects for commercial radio, television, and theater. He has traveled widely throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Europe, and the Far East. He has also performed at such festivals as the New Orleans Jazz and Blues Festival, Lafayette International Music Festival, Nice Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Panama Music Festival.

Perry Osborn - Guitar - vocals

Perry has been working in and around the Panhandle of Florida area for the last 20 years. He is one of the top guitar instructors in Tallahassee, a graduate of FSU College of Music. In 2016, Perry released a CD featuring himself and his cousin titled, WWWMMD.  Lately Perry has been working with Gary's big band as well as The Rongs.

Randy Barnhill - Upright, Electric basses & vocals

Born and raised in Wilmington, NC. Started playing in and around the North Carolina Coastal area in the late 80's. Received Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Spring of 1990. Migrated to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University in Fall of 1990. Has been performing with various bands and orchestras across Florida and the Southeast ever since.

Has performed with regional and international artists that include Slide Hampton, Ed Shaugnessy, Bernadette Peters, The Moody Blues Band, Tommy Tutone, James Peterson, Otis Redding III, The Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, The Tallahassee Bach Parley, Crooked Shooz, Mr. Perfect, The Scott Campbell Trio and The Johnnie Marshall Blues Band.

Gary Farr - Keys

Gary is featured playing vintage Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes sounds, acoustic piano, along with other various vintage synthesizers. Gary's full bio can be seen on his bio page.
